Why can I not download my messenger by opening a document? It only lets me save it to disk.?

when I go through the process of downloading the messenger, it only lets me save the program to disk and not by saving it to my hard drive...

Answer:
For your information: your hard drive IS a disk. In the window where you get the "Save to Disk" option, click on "Save File". This will let you browse your hard drive to select the location where you want to download the messenger.
