How to change my name in the contact list?

How can I change my messenger settings so that users on my contact list can't see my full name??

• My full name is NOT displayed in my Contact Details. This has to be a setting from somewhere else.

  I had the very same problem for the longest time. I followed all the directions that yahoo help directed me to do to no avail. Eventually, I had to open another acct which I found out was unnecessary. What you really want to do is eliminate the use of your username that is your full name. And only use your nickname or ID. Here's what I discovered to be the ultimate solution after months of repeated experiments. List yourself in the ym address book or contact list. Use only your nickname or ID or an alias or screen name or a created profile which could be a catchy phrase. Leatha G. must be your real name. Why don't you use a nickname or ID? There's no way you can change your ID only your password. And you can add a lot of aliases or nicknames or created profile. Under the heading what name do you want to be contacted, only indicate your nickname, ID or alias. Don't or correct if you did it .... fill in your real name and last name. This was my first mistake so no matter what i adjusted there after, this mistake couldn't be corrected. Also in your contact details under messenger, list yourself only by your nickname or alias or ID. You only have to fill in your first name or nickname .......... in the format you want it to be shown. For ex: in your case, ... Lea. The harder way is to delete everybody and reinvite them and in the invitation, indicate the name you want to be addressed as. Hopefully this list is short as I don't think you communicate via IM a lot of people. But if they refused to acknowledge another invite. Just follow the first suggestion. I also corrected my e-mail so my full name doesn't show up. I went to my profile. Here you can create another profile. Post editing,click on update so the necessary adjustments will register. For public profile, again under first name fill in the name you want it to show. And under last name, fill in a fictitious name. There's no way of going around this. This is a required info. In YM, you don't have to fill in a last name. Under compose letter, locate the options on the extreme right, and under the heading, general preference, just indicate the nickname or ID. This will reflect your return or outgoing name or address. Your full name will be eliminated; both in e-mail and in YM. I hope i'm explicit and thorough.
