I recently downloaded the newer 9.0 version of yahoo messenger.?

Though this might not seem to be what you are asking, it does change what you see anyways in the IM window and for new people who add you, they can see your nickname you can put in. For people that have already added you, you can choose to send new contact details to them. Click Actions at the top of Y!M and then Send My Contact details. Follow the prompts. This will send the new first and last name you choose. Not advised for you to use your real name, for example I would use True as my first and Colors as my last. For some odd reason the nickname you choose will not be sent. You will have to ask them to change it manually if you want or to delete you and add you again after you have changed it in My Contact Details. DISPLAY NAME AT TOP OF Y!M 1. Click Messenger at top of Y!M. 2. Click My Contact Details. 3. Put in the first name and last name you want people to see when they add you. You do not have to use your real name. 4. Add a nickname if you want one. When you do, this is what will show at the top of Y!M. If you do not, then what you entered for your first name and last name will show at the top. 5. Click Save & Close. You can choose, as well as whoever you are chatting with, to see either 1) Yahoo ID or 2) Nickname or First and Last name. This will affect is seen in the IM window for the other person and also on yuor Messenger list. This setting is in Preferences (in the Messenger menu at the top of Y!M) and in the Appearance category under Messenger list. Click OK. Well I hope this helps you.
