Why do my archive messages not show up on Messenger?

Why can't I find my messages on Messenger/Profiles/.../archiveā€¦

  • I was planning on moving all my messages to a new pc but the messages on that folder are limited. By that I mean it has some messages saved on my Y!M message archive but the more recent ones aren't there. Whenever I try viewing using the actual program the recent ones are still there and the settings is set to save all the messages even after logging out.

  • Answer:

This is odd, Homer. I say that because Yahoo's default setting for messages is TO SAVE them all. Normally, that would mean that you had to disable that option, but reading your question, I tend to think that did not happen. What you have to do now is; in Messenger, click Messenger on the Toolbar and scroll to Preferences, click Messages and fill in the box alongside, Save All Messages, click OK, restart your computer and from that point on, your messages will be saved. Or, try the more direct approach of looking for them from Messenger itself. Messenger> Archives and look for the messages by either date they were sent ot the sender's name. Click on it and read it in the lower window.

Other answers

recent messages will be saved if the Archive setting is active. old messages has a tendency to be deleted automatically if too much messages are kept inside. if you can't view on the messenger, assuming you are using an XP edition of your PC, go to (C:) > Program Files > Yahoo > Yahoo Messenger > Archive.
