How do I log in to Yahoo messenger?

How do I turn off the Yahoo Messenger feature that tells me when Contacts log into Yahoo Messenger.?

• Whenever a Friend or Contact logs into Yahoo, I get a txt message to my mobile phone from Yahoo notifying me of this. My phone service charges me for receiving these txt messages. How do I turn off this Yahoo Messenger feature. I also get YM msgs direct to my phone. I don't want or need this feature either. I want to opt out. How do I turn this OFF and ON.
