How do you get Yahoo to alert you that you have a message?

Can I get my mobile phone to alert me that someone sent me a message on Yahoo Messanger for my cell phone?

Hello. I need some help here and the yahoo help center is not much help. I have Yahoo Messanger for my cell phone. The problem is that I don't get any alerts when someone sends me an instant message. I keep missing out on conversations because of this. I would like Yahoo Messanger to send me an alert, some form of noise, when I receive a new message. Is this possible.

I believe that it has something to do with your phone. if you remained signed on then it should ask you if you want to be alerted when someone sends you an IM.
