How do I text someone from Yahoo?

How do I change things to get signal when someone send a text massage on yahoo text,?

  I hope you are talking about your PC, not your cell phone. If the latter, again refer yahoo help. If the former refer below, 1. From the "Messenger" menu, select Preferences, and the " Yahoo! Messenger Preferences" window will open. 2. Under "Category" on the left, click Alerts & Sounds, and the Alerts & Sounds settings options will display on the right. 3. Under "Alert me when," you can select "receive a message" or "receive a text". A list of options will display below under "Alert me by." 4. Under "Alert me by," select the check boxes for the alert options that you'd like to receive. For example, if you'd like a sound to play, select the check box option for "Playing a sound." You can choose different sounds by clicking "Browse." Note: Clear the check boxes for alert options that you don't want to receive. If you don't want to receive any alerts, clear all the check boxes. 5. At the bottom of the window, click Apply and then OK. Note: You must have Yahoo! Messenger open and be signed in to receive your alerts for new Yahoo! Mail.
