How To See Yahoo Status?

I blocked my Ex on IM, so why can he still see that I'm online? And when I do a Yahoo status change?

  • Whats up with that? Yeah, he can't send me an IM but that hasn't stopped him from calling or texting me ( from different phone numbers) when he sees I'm online. This is so LAME and ineffective. I thought that a block would stop him from being able to see me, IM, and email. Is there something that I missed? Is there another option that I didn't block? And yeah his behaviors are pretty stalker-ish and compulsive. And no, its not scary. I live about 10 states away now and he has no idea where I live. So I'm cool. Its just more annoying than anything when I get a call from a blocked or random number and its him, calling to make reference to my status on Yahoo. LAME. So if anyone knows how I can get him to not be able to see me online that would be cool.

No, unfortunately, blocking just means they can't message you. Did you plain just ask him to please not call you or message you, etc? Probably a silly question, but seems like he needs to move on. Blocking on IM doesn't block email. You have to specifically block his email address to block him on email. I would suggest you set your status to invisible. That way he won't know when you're online. Just let friends know they can message you and that if you are there, you will respond. The other option is to create another Yahoo! account, and use that for Messenger. Just add all your friends, and let them know your new ID. That way you wouldn't have to set your status to invisible because he wouldn't know the new ID. Even if he did, he'd have to ask for your permission to add you to his list, which you wouldn't give. Thankfully, he doesn't know where you live. Make sure you don't add that information any place he might be able to see it. (FYI: If a 'friend' is removed from your list, they can not be blocked)

You might be able to re-add him then click on his name and choose appear permanently offline. Then you could re-delete him. I don't know if deleting him would remove the permanently offline setting. Maybe test it with one of your friends.

you could try using a different im program, such as msn or aim, or you could use the chat in gmail or facebook.
