How can i know if one contact state is (appear offline) if he is already offline or he is present(invisible)?

some contacts appear offline while they are staying on their computers...i wanna know if they are already offline or appear offline....is there program....thx at all

There may be a program for violating the privacy of others, but I don't understand why anyone would want to spy on those they call friends. It's a violation of their rights. And sometimes they may be on line and just not have messenger on.
