My contacts appear offline?

Some of my yahoo contacts appear offline. I think my contacts are online cause some of them turn yellow afew weeks ago I had to change my messenger name so I sent out messages that I had switched my name all the contacts readded me, so what has happened and how do I change this! It's kind of frustrating I think I got an update a few weeks ago. PLEASE HELP!!

Answer:
Some people go online in "Stealth" Mode which means that they appear offline even though they are online. They may not have updated your name to be able to see them. You may need to send them a message to see if they are online but just hiding (unfortunately, there is no way to tell if they are hiding or actually offline at the time)
