How do I get "you have mail" to show up on my screen?

When on Yahoo Msger I can't get the little mail box to show up at the bottom of the screen, anymore.?

  • I have made all changes by selecting my 'preferences' category, on Yahoo Messenger, however when mail comes in, I am not alerted. Does working on a laptop change setting? My alerts used to work and when mail came in, a pop box would be displayed in the centre of the screen, and disapear within seconds, and a little lit up mail box would be displayed at the bottom my screen. Only thing now displayed is the 'happy face' logo of the messenger.

    There is adjustment in Messenger only. Messenger column > Preferences > ALerts and Sounds > Enable alert Sounds (With a check mark) > Showing a message at bottom right corner of screen (With a check mark) > Appply > Ok

Undo all your customized settings, when you change things like that, you change everything. One by one watch them as you change the messenger see which check mark is associated with what icon! Good Luck
