How Can I Show My User-name Instead Of Real Name for Yahoo! Messenger?

Alright: Yahoo! Messenger Question: When I Instant Message people it says my full name instead of my log in name. My cousin, on the other hand, has her user-name showing- but she isn't sure how she did it. How can I make it so my user-name show up instead of my real name when using Yahoo! Messenger? P.S.- I've tried with the Contact Information place, and it only shows there my Yahoo! I.D. but it won't display on my friend's computer (it is showing like this on her computer, I'm not sure about anyone else's yet though, so when more people sign on, I'll ask them) Any suggestions?

One thing you need to remember is USER PREFERENCES Go here and set it the way you want IF it shows different when chatting with a friend- It is ON their messenger and onl theirs-OK Open messenger >>Messenger(menu) My Contact Details >>remove your first name and put ONLY USERNAME YOU can have it so that all you see is Yahoo ID from everyone when they log on Open Messenger Messenger(menu) Preferences >>>Appearance Tab The very bottom For each contact on Messenger List - show as Nick name or Real Name ***Yahoo ID only ***Preferences apply REMEMBER - IT IS USER PREFERENCES - YOU WONT SEE EXACTLY THE SAME THING.. YOU CAN CONTROL WHAT YOU WANT - but not the other contact! IFYou often have a "Chat session" with other contacts and you dont want your real name showing - ask them to plz remove your first name. There is something that they can do at the bottom On Messenger... I have many groups I belong to.. so I break my list &I add a username - yahoo ID- I will put a first name there too but I am the Only one that sees that and that may be what you are seeing. hey friend go through the yahoo messenger's messenger tool and than to my contact details thes u change ur name just as ur id but u should give there ur last name also so give anything u want..and u will be displayed by ur username.....enjoy.............G THE ONE
