Why has yahoo i.m.changed the way to use the web cam it is confusing .please how do you get the old way back?

You must have switched to Messenger 10 - Messenger 9 works fine with a web cam, and is still easy to use. Delete Messenger 10 from Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Search for files for Yahoo Messenger and delete them all, or a fresh install will not work. I have listed several free registry cleaners in case you are leery of that (I would be too!) With Win XP, Yahoo leaves many traces of itself in the registry when an old version is uninstalled (Control Panel > Add/Remove) or a new one fails to install properly - (my uninstall left close to 30 references). The new version will NOT install completely until they are cleaned out. It requires deleting all Yahoo Messenger references from the registry, except your archived messages and profile and contacts lists, perhaps. (Be very careful - you could make a mess in the registry!) Remember to backup the registry or create a new Restore Point first! With Win Vista or Win 7, the delete should work well, but check by using 'Search for files' in Programs, and delete any references you find. File Hippo has several versions of Yahoo Messenger. Messenger 10 has proven glitchy on some computers, so stick with Messenger 9. Download and SAVE the program directly from there - it seems less problematic than an update or install from Yahoo's site. Install it only after completely cleaning the registry of remnants.

just download a different version from the olderversion site. No need to uninstall the messenger 10 because whatever one you install will just overwrite the previous version.
