Why is my messenger not opening?

Why is messenger constantly opening up?

  • Since I've updated, messenger seems to pop up at will. Each time I turn on my computer, it shows up. Even when I open Launchcast Radio, it shows up. Any tips on how to make it only open when I click the icon?

    maybe you have it set like that...Go to setting actions and fix it....Whe you sign in into you mail at yahoo. it will ask you if yo want to sign in to Messanger clik not so it won't show up the same in anothers windows...Good luck!!!

To stop Yahoo! Messenger from starting every time your computer is turned on do the following. 1) Click on Messenger->Preferences on the menu bar. 2) On the left hand side of the window in the list box click "general". 3) Remove the check box that says "Automatically start Yahoo! Messenger" in the When I start my computer section. This section is at the top in the right pane of the dialog box. For the issue with launhcast, there is a check box in the same window to automatically start it also. Uncheck this box as well. I hope this helps.

Try to sign out and sign in again without ticking the automatic sign-in optons.
