How do I change my contact list on Yahoo Messenger so that contacts are displayed by name rather than user ID?

Open up messenger, go in to Preferences then Appearance, and at the bottom there is your option. Also if it were a case of just one or two you could right click on your contact, select Contact Details and put it in name you want it listed by. :)

on top of the contact list, click the "messenger" tab, then hit prefrences. On the left hand side of that new window, click the link "Apperance" and on the bottom of that window, that gives you the option so show Nickname/ first and last name, OR Yahoo! ID. You can also right click on the individual users name, then go to "Contact Details" and manually enter in whatever name you want to show up by entering it in their "Nickname" box in that window..
