How do people add you to their contacts?

How can I block messages from people asking me to add them to online contacts?

  • When I log on to read my Yahoo email, I get a pop-up message from someone that wants me to add them to my contacts list. I want to shut off this "feature" and never receive this type of request. Does anyone know how to shut this off? It's so annoying that I'm thinking about switching my email provider. It all started happening without my permission. Thanks!

  • Answer:

    TO BLOCK SOMEONE FROM CHAT Go to "Options" >Click on "More Options">Click on "Spam". Under "Blocked Chat ID's">choose one of the options given. Either "Block chat messages from anyone who is not in my Contacts" or "Block chat messages only from the people listed below:". If you use this option add the person in the box. Click on "Save Changes" at the top.
