In Yahoo Messenger What exactly does idle mean. Does it mean your not chatting or something else?

Idle means that you haven't typed/moved the mouse pointer within a period of time, and allows the system to use less power to reduce stress on the processor when it's not in use. You can change the amount of idle by going to Messenger - Preferences - Privacy. There are multiple idle settings for all kinds of things, like your hard drive, and also for your monitor, even your power supply. They are all built to lower power usage and to increase the amount of life of the product. Use them wisely.
