I need to change my name as it appears on IM chat?

I have followed the directions of editing "account Information" but there is no way that I can get in to delete my last name from showing up on a chat with people I may not want to know my last name. Please help!!

Answer:
Go to your yahoo messenger friends list. Click on messenger, then click on "my contact details", underneath the box in which you could enter your first, last and middle name is a box that says nickname. Enter your new nick, save it and you're done.
