Since I upgraded my yahoo messenger, it displays my real name. how do i get it to send my screen name?

when you are adding a new person, you press change by where your name is!

See if this works: Open Messenger. Click "Messenger". Select "My Account Info". (Sign in with Password.) That will give you a Yahoo ID page. Towards the bottom should be Address & contact Info. Edit, putting in a Nickname. Click "Finish". Sign completely out of Yahoo. (Perhaps best to disconnect from the Internet. I don't believe your changes take effect until you log in Next time.) Return to Yahoo & check Messenger display. Did that do it? [Under messenger (tab), there is also a "My Profiles" option. You can also click that & create Profiles to use -- using nicknames, etc. You can create several profiles and use them at will.] Let me know if this works. If it doesn't, maybe I can find the solution. :)

You can change how your name displays on your computer by choosing "My Contact Details" in the Messenger menu, then changing the First/Last name fields, or adding a nickname. Note that no matter what display name you choose, this will *only* be seen by you on *your* computer. Yahoo! Messenger does not send your display name with your messages, only your ID. Your name will appear on the other side as whatever that person chose to enter for you in their address book. You can verify this yourself by right-clicking on any contact in your list, changing their name to whatever you want, and then seeing that name appear the next time you IM with them. (I know it's a little confusing, since other programs like MSN Messenger do send display names; but not Yahoo!.)
