How can I block someone on "Yahoo Messenger"?

  • I continually get a pop up from someone I don't know on Yahoo Messenger. How do I block pop ups or block the individual?

    This is a spam problem that Yahoo knows, but has been unable to conquer for at least a year in the Mai version. To block senders in the downloaded Messenger program, go to Messenger > Preferences > Ignore List, and add the IM name or e-mail of the person you wish to block. Click Add, then OK or Apply. If you receive contact requests from unknown persons, go to the Ignore List and check 'Ignore anyone who is not on my contact list.' Then click OK or Apply. To block these messages at least temporarily in the Mail version of Messenger, set the account to 'offline' until you are ready to chat.

messenger > preferences > ignore list : tick the box the "ignore anyone who is not on my messenger list" click OK to apply. *to block an individual, same route, just enter his/her ID to the ignore box and click OK also to apply the blocking.
