How do I take my actual name off the messenger screen?

How do I remove my first and last name from appearing along with screen name on yahoo messenger?

  • bought a new laptop and down loaded yahoo messenger and my real name show on out going ims along with my screen name??/I do I remove my true name from the messenger screen when I am on available statpeople tell me my name comes up(first and last name??)

Hey! Great minds think alike... I just did this today!! Open your IM box... At the top, click "messenger"... scroll down to My Account Info...click on it scroll down to Address/Contact Info... on the right hand side you'll see "edit" in blue...click it You can change the name to anything you want! I put my first name but for the last name... I put (last name private) exactly like that. The system has to read an acceptable last name and this worked for me. Good luck, friend :) Mine is choose2bhappy4life if you need anything else.

You have to change your name in your account profile,then click 'My Account' link at the top-middle of Yahoo!Answers page in blue texts enter your password click 'SIGN IN' Click 'Create/Edit Profile' under public information heading click 'Edit' beside your ID Click 'Edit Profile Information' now you enter your profile name as you like click "Save Changes" click "Save and Close" Now sign out from your account Close your browser and re-open it again and sign in to your account. Sign in to your Messenger click "Messenger' menu click 'Preferences' click 'Appearance' at the bottom click to check "For each contact on my Messenger List show their : Yahoo! ID" click 'Apply' and 'OK'.
