How do I make my computer make a "knock knock knock" noise when someone signs into IM?

My computer used to make a "knock knock knock" noise when a new friend sign into yahoo Instant messenger & it would make a "door closing sound" when they would sign out...it doesnt do that anymore, it makes a faint swooshing noise now & I cant really hear it...I want it back to the old sound, can anyone help me....

The sound effects associated with Messenger events are assigned in the Messenger \ Preferences \ Alerts and Sounds interface window. You'll need to find the sound-effect files you want to use, and assign them using that interface.
