Why does Yahoo messenger knock me off?

"When someone signs on/off to yahoo messenger, I used to hear a "knock" and now I dont hear anything.

I looked under the messenger window and clicked on PREFERENCES to set the "knock" sound again...but I still dont get the "knock" sound. How do I get the "knock" sound back so I will know when someone signs on/off of messenger?

  Hi, If you want to know when a specific friend has messaged you when you are away from your computer, you can assign a different sound for them to be played when they come online or send you a message.
