How to change a name on Instant messenger?

On my instant messenger window, my full name comes up, how do i change that for privacy reasons?

  • as i am texting in my instant messenger window to a contact, my full name appears, how do i change that to my username, i do not want contacts knowing my actual name, and this does come up in the messenger window, i need to know how to change this. thankyou

    click on "Messenger" on the tool bar and then click on "My contact details" change what you want, then click on the names of the people in your group, and select "send my contant details"

right before you accept someones invite hit Change Name it will be right before you hit finish

Configure your options on the messenger opening screen. It is a hassle, I know, for every time I chatted in yahoo, my real name showed! How embarrassing!! Actually, I changed it on the option screen but it didn't do anything. I had to re-install yahoo messenger again and start from scratch. I hope you work it out and fix this problem ;)

Go to your options/configurations in your messenger. It is usually under the 'tools' menu. Change your name there or use a nickname. Peace.
