How to reinstall yahoo?

How can i save my chat history in yahoo messenger message archive if i am going for a windows reinstall ?

I thought i could save the xml file which stores the chat history and place it back when i install yahoo messenger after the windows reinstall Would that work?? I seriously want my chat hiostory to be saved.. i can skip the windows reinstall if i cant save it... but its very veryt important!
Answer:

If you Compress the xml file to zip to keep it safe from reinstall it may work. You can extract the xml file and place it back where it was. I did the same with my sims 2 files for backup.
