How do I change the name people see when they see my profile?

I just started using Yahoo Msgr-how do I prevent my first&last name showing to people I'm talking to via IM?

  • I noticed when I'm speaking to others via IM, my real first & last name are visible to them each time I send a message. Sometimes the conversation will start w/my profile name and switch over to showing my real name. I've looked everywhere under privacy settings & account info to see how I might change this-but have been unable to. I noticed that with some people I talk to, their real names are showing & w/others only their initials or profile names show. Where do I go to change this setting? Thanks in advance for your help!

    go to messenger click preferences click appearance click the button "Yahoo Id" click apply & ok sign off then sign in again ^_^

oh, god, they don't see ur name, uhm they may see it, but when u are sending a request try changing ur name and put there something else, u have a button for that, and next time looking at all the steps through the request
