How can I change my Yahoo screen name to my real name?

Updated to new Yahoo messenger,now my personal name showing up instead of screen name - how can I change it?

  • I upgraded to the new Yahoo messenger w/voice - what a nightmare for some reason!! Couldn't get into Yahoo or messenger for days. Had to totally get rid of it and start all over. Now for some reason, when I send an instant message thru messenger my full name is coming up instead of my yahoo name - - - why???? How do I get it to show my yahoo name ???

    Please follow this path. click on messenger> my contact details> make changes in ur nickname box> keep other boxes empty> save and close. It will solve ur problem. If u r having yahoo 360 also. Then u will hv to do the following also. Follow this path. Open ur messenger window> contacts> my profile> click on ur ID> edit>it will take u to ur 360 page> click settings> it will take u to basic info> make changes in Name and Nick Name as u need> make changes in Yahoo Identity display> save.

On the yahoo messenger, go to Messenger, then My Contact Details. Put in there what you want to show up.

You screen name shows up to all your contacts. Your real name only shows on your screen.

It's very easy to change.Just follow these steps: 1.At the top of your messenger,select Messenger/ My Contact Details. 2.Erase your name from the appropriate boxes and then hit Save and Close. There ya have it. Happy Chatting!

You can change how your name displays on your computer by choosing "My Contact Details" in the Messenger menu, then changing the First/Last name fields, or adding a nickname. Note that no matter what display name you choose, this will *only* be seen by *you* on your computer. Yahoo! Messenger does *not* send your display name with your messages, only your ID. Your name will appear on the other side as whatever that person chose to enter for you in their address book, or the name you entered in your profile page (http://manage.members.yahoo.com/index_listprofiles.html) or as just your ID if you're not in their address book and there is no display name in your profile. You can verify this yourself by right-clicking on any contact in your list, changing their name to whatever you want, and then seeing that name appear the next time you IM with them. I know it's a little confusing, since other programs like MSN Messenger do send display names; but not Yahoo!.

Thats not any problem, whenever you upgrade or reinstall YM te contact list takes a time to be upgraded, so take your time and it'll be solved automatically, dont bother about it.
