How do I get to the messenger menu?

Why can't get my yahoo messenger menu , will not let me click on to sign in?

I HAVE ERASED MESSENGER, AND RELOADED IT STILL, WITH NO RESULTS CAN NOT GET INTO YAHOO MESSENGER MENU TO CHECK CONNECTION.
Answer:

When you erased Messenger, did you go to "add and remove programs" in the Control Panel? You may still have some registry entries that were not changed. The best bet is to try it again. Sometimes the Windows firewall needs to be adjusted to allow Messenger to work. If you are using another software firewall it may need to be configured also. Its a good safety to have an on board anti virus program running in the background also!
