How do I get mail alerts?

How do i get back the original sound alerts in messenger and for a new e-mail alert?

  • I went to preferences from my yahoo IM and it will not apply new sound alerts. I can not even review the different sound alerts. I keep getting weird sounds, but nothing like a knock, door shutting, doorbell, or pow sound......the sounds are all the same, just a funny sound.

    I like the older version of the messenger better than the new ones. You can get it by going to oldapps.com OR, if you like the version you have, uninstall and reinstall

In messenger preferences,click on alerts and sounds.That should take you to the sounds and alerts.And if you do it right you can change them.Find the one you want a sound on and click on that name,then down and click on browse to find a sound you want to use.Where it takes you look in one called ring tones.Then click open once you find one you may want.Then click on the >sign next to browse and hear what you picked,if you don't like change it till you do.Do all your message sounds same way.Yodel is loudest one to use for mail.Good luck.
