How do I get my yahoo avatar to show fully?

How do I get my avatar to show up on my Yahoo! messenger?

• When you are in the screen where you IM someone or you are having a conversation, on the right side is a square that has a grey image of a person and it says Change Display Image. I tried everything that I could think of and I still can't figure out how to get my avatar to show up in that square area. I was talking to a girl in England today and I asked her if my avatar shows up on her screen and she said no. I would like to know how to get it on there. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  Hi there - and thank you for a very neat clear question ! Oh that everyone on here could be as clear. You CAN change your "Display Image" at bottom right of an IM box (by clicking UNDER the picture spot) - but probably the more normal way to achieve the same thing is simply in main YM window to click "Messenger", then "My Display Image". In there it has 3 options: Don't Share, Share my Pic, Share my Avatar. If you've already created a Yahoo Avatar, then it should show in this window - then surely just select THAT (3rd) option then click OK !? Also, a VERY useful trick is to add YOURSELF as a friend on your YM list, then YOU can see yourself exactly as others see you, so you can easily check if your display image or avatar IS set up ok. (But warning, you may have to *refresh* the list sometimes to see your own if you've just changed it - just click on an empty part of that window, then press F5). (The tiny image to the LEFT of people's names on your list is exactly what shows - much larger - in an IM window for that person.)
