How to up-grade to the new free yahoo messenger?

How can I access yahoo messenger after my upgrade?

  • since upgrading, I cannot log in to yahoo messenger I can receive new messages when logged in to my email and even respond, but no idea how to send a new message can I downgrade, so I can access messenger again? it seems that sometimes there is a "chat" button and sometimes not, when in emails, but if I want to "start new chat", I can't see my connections, just have a prompt for email address I would prefer to be able to just use messenger and not stuff around in email to send a quick message when I say cannot access, I mean that userid and/or password for some obscure reason is no longer valid, even after password reset

    Are you using the same Yahoo ID and password in Yahoo! Mail that you are using in Yahoo Messenger? Then if it works in yahoo mail you know that the password is valid. So sorry for the obvious suggestion but please make sure your caps lock key is not pressed. OK now read below after checking that. SIGN-IN PROBLEMS WITH YAHOO MESSENGER If this is the first time that you have had the problem first try exiting Y!M by right clicking the Yahoo! icon by your clock and choosing exit. Then relaunch Y!M and try again. If you still have problems reboot your computer. Some of these issues just work themselves out after a certain amount of time but if you have tried rebooting and you do not want to wait then read below.
