Why doesn't the messenger load?

I've downloaded Yahoo Messenger 5 times already but won't load-it doesnt even appear on or in my computer-WHY?

  • Everytime I download yahoo messenger, it completes, and then I click for it to Launch, then the little hourglass appears, but nothing ever happens. In fact I searched my computer EVERY TIME, but nothing comes up. It's like I never ran yahoo in the first place! What's going on???

    Don't attempt direct download. First,save the download file in stead of direct run. Close the internet connection. Run the saved file off line. Installation wizard will appear. Follow the instructions carefully. You will find installation process successful. Afterwards,you shold check two more points. 1) Go to program access & defaults, click on ^ sign on your right under custom setting ,scroll down to IM & check the box enable access for yahoo messenger. 2) In sign in page,click on messenger at top & select 'no proxy' under connection preference.

Have you tried logging into your computer as the administrator? I'm on XP and always make sure I log in as Administrator when I want to download and install programs to avoid issues with them. From what I understand when going through forums I love to read, this is also the case with Vista users, they're advised to log in as the administrator before downloading and installing programs. Try it and see if that works for you.

Both of those ideas are good, especially about the Vista Administrator, but I'm the only one who uses this computer and I'm listed as the administrator. I'm still having the same problem though as you. I wonder if it was an update we received from Windows? Just wondering........... Any ideas are appreciated.
