Why do I get a msg that says i have been disconnected from chat because i have logged in by using another computer or device. What is going on?

Answer:
This does not make sense to me. I use Firefox as my browser. I use yahoo email online only.(classic) No one has access to my computer except me. I NEVER use chat, I NEVER use messenger. (are they both the same thing?) So, why do I get this message? ( A LOT!) "You have been disconnected from chat because you have signed into Yahoo messenger from another computer or device." My only choice is to click off the little notice or to click OK. Why doesn't Yahoo have a place to click... I object, or I am NOT using chat? as a way to let yahoo know that something fishy is going on? When I look at the "Chat and Mobile Text" box, Sometimes it will say "invisible". Sometimes it will say "offline" Sometimes it will say "you are signed out of chat" it has a place where I can click on settings, but when I go to settings, there is nothing to indicate that I can change my settings for chat or even permanently turn off the chat feature. Where can I go to permanently disable chat and guarantee that no one else is using chat in my name. Who are they chatting with, anyway? Can I actually sign into chat and find a record of what chats were already done? Who they have been done with?

STOP GETTING SIGNED OUT OF Y!M WHEN YOU CHECK YOUR MAIL First of all do not panic if you get this message, “You have been signed out because you signed in on a different computer or device,” or “You have been disconnected from chat because you have signed into Yahoo! Messenger from another computer or device.” This notice is the number one question that has been asked on Yahoo! Answers ever since Yahoo introduced the new chat feature of Yahoo! Mail. You cannot be signed into any 2 yahoo chat programs with the same Yahoo! ID at the same time. This may include Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger for the Web, Yahoo! Mail chat, Yahoo! Messenger on your cell phone, iPhone, or iPod, and of course on a different computer. You will be signed out of one of these if you attempt to sign into another at the same time with the same Yahoo! ID. You can read more here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/chat/chat-21.html;_ylt=AqL5l8JXqwrKJwBTg4wqk6lq5yN4 and also here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger9/other/mstawbsignout.html;_ylt=AsobLhws1p.bulTzk4LqmP4S8Sh4 Remember to that just clicking the X in the upper right corner does not actually close or exit Yahoo! Messenger (unless you have changed this in Preferences). It just minimizes to the system tray by your clock and is still running If you want to Exit Y!M then you would need to right click that Yahoo! icon by your clock and choose exit. Or you can, as I have done, change it in Preferences, General Category, so that Y!M will close when I click the X. Check the box that says, “Sign out of Messenger when I close the main window.” Click OK. This paragraph will deal with how to make sure you have disabled the chat feature of Yahoo! Mail so that you will not get signed out of Yahoo! Messenger every time you check your Yahoo! Mail. What you need to do is locate where the chat is in Yahoo! Mail and sign out of it which will make you offline on the Yahoo! Mail. On the classic mail it is located in a blue box on the left. In the New Yahoo Mail you sign out of chat by your name near the top. You will see a drop down arrow to choose from a list. For Yahoo! Classic Mail: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/classic/chat/mltacsignotchat.html;_ylt=AnvfSVk8GERxm1ZHr7rF.fXnAHdG All-New Yahoo! Mail: http://help.yahoo.com/tutorials/cg/mail/cg_chat6.html But by all means if you feel this does not apply to you and are worried about the security of your account, then change your password by signing into “My Account Info,” which you can access via the Messenger menu at the top of Yahoo Messenger or in the drop down menu under your name at the top of any Yahoo website you are signed into.
