I also think it's a problem with Yahoo. I have the same webcam issues: freezes, stops broadcasting. For me it started in May or June - up to then everything worked great. It started all of a sudden, I didnt change computers or ISP. I have a feeling the integration with Windows Live made things go bizurk and made Y!IM work not so well anymore *sigh* Y!IM was the best... *WAS* To attempt to solve this I have: * set up to broadcast with faster speed (Messenger, Preferences, Webcam, "broadcast my webcam with") --> this helped a bit, * changed connections from "no proxÿ" to "firewall with no proxy" * reported the problem to Yahoo and sent logs (that's an option in "Help" menu) hundreds of times, * contacted Yahoo Help (you should do that too, so they know other people are having the same trouble), * tweeked my DSL speed and stuff (I called my DSL provider and asked them to do so), * re-installed Y!IM several times, * reinstalled Flash Player (the Flash 9 is so annoying, it crashes often) * reinstalled Java, * removed wireless phone from my office (to eliminate interference with wireless networking), * reinstalled webcam drivers and software * purchased a new router (Linksys WRT 54G) * got a new laptop in august (still using XP) Nothing made a difference. My webcam still freezes or stops broadcasting or I even crash when all that happens!! ggggrrrrrrrrr Or even funny-weird: chat window stops responding, cams freeze and are on the verge of crashing and voice is STILL working! (But sometimes voice is just as bad as everything else, making me sound like a goat lol and lagging or not connecting at all) I have not tried a new/diff webcam or a new ISP. If you always cam with same person, here's an idea: You can set it up so that person can request your webcam and recieve the images without you having to agree every time. If the other person sees that your image froze, they close it and request it. If you see that your image froze, close and start broadcasting again, then invite your friend or wait til they request it. Here's how: To set your friend up so they can request your webcam image: 1- Messenger, Preferences, Webcam...... 2- "When someone tries to view my webcam" click on: "always allow the following people to view my webcam" ... then add your friends name there. For your friend to request your webcam image: 1- Highlight your name/nick on the list and right click 2- Click on "More Actions" and "View webcam" SUGGESTION TO EVERYONE READING THIS POST: if you're reading this, I bet it's because you have this problem or know someone who has lol And if that's the case, please bug Y!IM so they friggin solve this problem or present us with a diagnostics/solution.
