From horrible voice to heavenly?

My voice sounds horrible on the webcam?

  • I have a Microsoft Lifecam vx-3000 and I haven't used it for a few months to a year, until now. When recording my voice, my brothers say I sound exactly like how I do in the recording, which disgusted me. My voice sounds... just, odd. I can't really explain it. And when I recorded myself singing, i thought I'd sound good, but it was just the opposite. I find it odd because on my step-sister's webcam (which is installed into her laptop) I had a better voice/singing voice. Even when I was singing in front of the class (it was for a final), my teacher and classmates said I had an amazing voice. I'm more confused than ever now. Why would my step-sister's webcam make me sound more better? And why does my teacher and classmates like my voice when it sounds horrible on my webcam?

  • Answer:

Your opinions of your voice are relative. If you think your voice sounds better on your sisters webcam, the webcam is probably superior to the one you had been using before. If you want to be completely satisfied with your voice in any kind of recording you need to go to a professional audio engineer or even a rouge amateur with lots of recording goods.

Other answers

When you actually record yourself and then listen to yourself speak, you are going to sound different. You might like it, might not. That's why singers who might record a song can't mess with the tape. Other people are sure to think you sound fine.
