Why i cant read messages in my yahoo messenger? what will i do?

Why cant i read my messages from yahoo messenger i click on my messages but cant open them?

• when someone sends me messages i click on them but it wont open it keeps saying 2 downloading but there is nothing down loading then when i click on something the part goes blank
