Why won't Windows Live Messenger sign me in?

Windows Live Messenger wont sign in!?

on my lap top my windows live messenger wont sign in. It keeps on saying that signing into windows live messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. then when i go to the trouble shoot section it says that there is something wrong with my proxy server. help me please:(

Check your wireless connection, if your not up on the internet, then your Messenger will not run. Or try and download a newer version of the program, if you already have this, then reinstall your Windows Live Messenger, I mean uninstall and install again.
