Why won't Yahoo messenger work on Windows Vista?

Yahoo Messenger 8.1.249 Does not work with Windows Vista. FOR SURE!!?

  • I just installed Windows Vista Ultimate and installed LATEST version of yahoo messenger. It simply doesn't work on Windows Vista and I receive forget your password message box. I even went and disabled UAC (User Account Control) in Windows Vista before installing YM and it didn't work. I tried to Run as Adminstrator, set the compatibility with Windows XP SP2 and it is still not working. I am not sure what people at yahoo are doing. It is really shame to wait from CES till May to read only about the promised Yahoo messenger on Vista with nothing on real ground. At least make the thing work or give us the beta of yahoo messenger for Vista !! I searched google for solution but I couldn't find any. The only solution at the moment is to keep using google talk Gtalk from Google. It just work !

    Please don't rant on Yahoo! Answers, that's against community guidelines (http://answers.yahoo.com/info/community_guidelines.php ). If you have a suggestion regarding Yahoo! Messenger, please contact them via http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/contactus/contactus-01.html . Also, you can TRY using Yahoo! Messenger for the Web instead until the Vista version is ready. See http://webmessenger.yahoo.com . No download necessary and it should work with any browser. Although, it's meant a complementary service to the full version. Go to http://messenger.yahoo.com/windowsvista.php to sign up to get an alert when the Vista version is ready. Many things don't work with Yahoo! Vista yet, you shouldn't be shocked about this.

Yahoo Messenger 8.1.249 works perfectly fine on Windows Vista Ultimate, both 32 and 64 bit versions, so either you are doing something wrong or something has gone wrong with your hardware or software. I know this because I run windows vista ultimate, and use Yahoo Messenger 8.1.249 myself without any problems (apart from voicechat but thats normal)

Why don't you try login in through the web. It is easy, you do not need to install anything, do not need to worry about problems. Just go to http://www.christianebuddy.com and login with your yahoo account for direct access to Yahoo Instant Messenger by web!! Good luck
