How do I uninstall yahoo messenger when it wont let me uninstall it?

  • Yahoo stopped working after i uninstalled some old unused programs.. and when i try to uninstall yahoo msg. it tells me it can not find install.log file. HELP!

    Restart your computer. As it boots back up, press F5 every couple of seconds until a black screen comes up. Start in Safe Mode. It will take a bit to load up, just give it time. Log in under the Administrator account. Get into your Add/Remove Programs (Sorry, I cant recall how to do that via Safe Mode right now. It shouldnt be TOO hard, its a really simple/old version of Windows). Try and uninstall there. It should work. If not, you'll have to do it this way: Start>My Computer>C: Drive>Program Files Find the Yahoo! folder and delete it. Reboot.

have you tried going into the start menu and then onto control panel, once there click on the add/remove icon and you should be able to uninstall it from there......hope this helps

NOT ABLE TO UNINSTALL YAHOO MESSENGER? Before you do any of the suggestions below first make sure that you do not have Yahoo Messenger running when you are trying to uninstall it. A program will not uninstall if it is being used. You can double check in Task Manager and also look by your clock and see if you see the Yahoo icon. If you do, then right click it and chose exit. You can also try rebooting your computer and try to uninstall again but check by the clock after you reboot in case you have Yahoo Messenger set to start automatically with windows start up. ===================== You can try 4 things if you cannot uninstall through add/remove programs in the control panel: ===================== 1) Navigate to Program Files open the Yahoo Folder and then the Messenger folder find the UNWISE.exe file. Double click this to run it. This is the uninstaller file. 2) Try downloading the Revo Uninstaller program. http://www.revouninstaller.com/ And uninstall Yahoo messenger from there.
