What's causing warnings when clicking a link in a newsletter/email message?

I keep getiing a message saying yahoo messenger has encountered a problem and has to close....whats causing it

My yahoo messenger constantly gets that message says it has encountered a problem and needs to close. Then on the bottom I have the option to debug or close. I have done everything possible from checking for viruses and spyware, to defrag, and all the updates. Sometimes I dont even touch messenger and its idling, and the message pops up. I even re-installed messenger and still get the same message. What the heck is causing this?
Answer:

I get this error message frequently, not only with the messenger but other sites as well. I am not sure what causes it, but its looks like the internet explorer has had a problem. The only way to clear it is to reboot your computer.
