Why can't I see my MSN contacts even when they are online?

I added contacts from my msn messenger to yahoo messenger but i still cant see them when they are on-line.Why?

You should have Windows Live Messenger(www.ideas.live.come) & the newest version of yahoo messenger beta. & the frenz u r gonna add should have the same versions.then after u add them & they add u u have to get a message upon the yahoo mesenger (under the Messenger, contacts & ... bar) that will send u in a site.When u go in the site u'll be able to talk to the ppl from both.

because they are diffrent companies so they may not allow each other or it could be because they are diffrent websites and they do not link to eaxh other
