Why do I keep getting signed out of the PSN?

Just signed up and I keep getting You are signed out because you signed in on a different computer??? Why is?

  • Why do I keep getting a message that I am signing in on a different computer?

  • Answer:

Hi, we now have several locations that are capable of accessing the Yahoo Instant Messaging feature. Yahoo Messenger itself, plus Yahoo Web Messenger, Yahoo All New Mail, My Yahoo, your Mobile phone, plus any other computer.etc etc. Yahoo classifies all these programs as different 'locations or devices' Yahoo currently do not allow you to have 2 open and active at the same time. If you have one open, and then move to another, one will close and you get a message telling you that you have been signed out. You CAN have Messenger and Mail open together as long as your status is set to "offline" in MAIL by using the drop-box next to your name and selecting 'Sign out of chat'. ( your chat contacts will remove themselves from the inbox until you make yourself 'available' again.) Please note: You may think you are signed out of Messenger when this is not the case. Hitting the 'X' when you close the Messenger page does not sign you out of Messenger it only closes that page - you have to Exit Messenger by right clicking the icon in the system tray.and selecting 'Exit' I suggest you make this setting. > (left click) Messenger > Preferences > General - check box "sign out of Messenger when I close the main window" > Apply > OK. If the above does not apply and you suspect your account is being used by a hacker. When you get signed out, close all your Yahoo programs and type your name into this software. Hit "GO" and hopefully it will show you as "offline". If not, contact Yahoo customer services http://detectinvisible.com/

STOP GETTING SIGNED OUT OF Y!M WHEN YOU CHECK YOUR MAIL First of all do not panic if you get this message, “You have been signed out because you signed in on a different computer or device,” or “You have been disconnected from chat because you have signed into Yahoo! Messenger from another computer or device.” This notice is the number one question that has been asked on Yahoo! Answers ever since Yahoo introduced the new chat feature of Yahoo! Mail. You cannot be signed into any 2 yahoo chat programs with the same Yahoo! ID at the same time. This may include Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger for the Web, Yahoo! Mail chat, Yahoo! Messenger on your cell phone, iPhone, or iPod, and of course on a different computer. You will be signed out of one of these if you attempt to sign into another at the same time with the same Yahoo! ID. You can read more here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/chat/chat-21.html;_ylt=AqL5l8JXqwrKJwBTg4wqk6lq5yN4 and also here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger9/other/mstawbsignout.html;_ylt=AsobLhws1p.bulTzk4LqmP4S8Sh4 Remember to that just clicking the X in the upper right corner does not actually close or exit Yahoo! Messenger (unless you have changed this in Preferences). It just minimizes to the system tray by your clock and is still running If you want to Exit Y!M then you would need to right click that Yahoo! icon by your clock and choose exit. Or you can, as I have done, change it in Preferences, General Category, so that Y!M will close when I click the X. Check the box that says, “Sign out of Messenger when I close the main window.” Click OK. What you need to do is locate where the chat is in Yahoo! Mail and where the status message is sign out of it which will make you Offline for chat. 1. For Yahoo! Classic Mail chat: it is located in a blue box on the left just change your status to Sign out of chat which will make you offline. 2. In the All-New Yahoo Mail you sign out of chat at the very top of the page to the right of where it says "Hi, your name" You will see a drop down arrow click and choose "Sign out of chat." Your status in for chat in Yahoo! Mail will change to offline and chat will be disabled. For Yahoo! Classic Mail: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/classic/chat/mltacsignotchat.html;_ylt=AnvfSVk8GERxm1ZHr7rF.fXnAHdG All-New Yahoo! Mail: http://help.yahoo.com/tutorials/cg/mail/cg_chat6.html But by all means if you feel this does not apply to you and are worried about the security of your account, then change your password by signing into “My Account Info,” which you can access via the Messenger menu at the top of Yahoo Messenger or in the drop down menu under your name at the top of any Yahoo website you are signed into.
