Why can't I get my messenger to load?

Why cant i get messanger i have just joined and it wont load it says bt messenger but i am with cable dose tha

    Messenger has to be used with broadband from what I understand so if your cable connection is not broadband you may not be able to get it. Don't know why otherwise sorry.
