Help! How do I add some of my contacts to Yahoo Messenger?

I could not add or delete any contacts on my yahoo messenger list?

• My yahoo messenger list is now over 300 and I'm having difficulty adding more contacts. It always displays this message: "The request to add a contact has taken longer than expected to complete. The operation may have succeeded. Please check your Messenger List later." But when I check the list, the contact is not there. I tried to delete some contacts coz I was told that the max is only 300. The contacts seem to have been deleted but when I relogin, they're still there! They won't go away! argggh ^^. I really hope someone can help me with this. Thanks very much in advance.

  all your contacts / friends are stored server side, that being on Yahoo's servers so if you are having no joy adding or removing (usually right click the friends name then select delete) them from within Yahoo! Messenger then access your friends / contact list via http://address.yahoo.com/ and remove them that way, this also removes them from your friends list on YIM :) or directly from your friends list only at http://messenger.yahoo.com/edit/ just try doing one at a time, if this works then continue, if it fails to update correctly just wait an hour or so and try again :)
