Is the Yahoo messenger server still down?

Yahoo: can't add contact to messenger that was previously on list, Pidgin shows contact as "not in server list?

I am having a problem with Yahoo messenger. I was doing a bit of cleaning out with my contacts list and I guess I must have screwed something up because now I can't add my friend back to my messenger list after he was accidentally removed. I am using two clients, Yahoo Messenger and Pidgin: 1. On YIM when I try and add him it says its taking too long to respond. 2. On Pidgin contact is shown as a greyed out icon with a red crossed out sign: says contact is not on server list. I'm guessing this is a problem with Yahoo's server list and not something locally. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Answer:

I'm having the same problem with both Pidgin (for Windows) and Adium (for Mac). I think its a Yahoo problem but it is only occurring with one of my contacts for now.
