How does Messenger discovery work?

Any way of making my Yahoo! Messenger work as it should?

  • I'm having MAJOR issues with my Y! messenger. 1) I have version 10.0.0.1270-us (windows 7) of Yahoo! messenger. It does not work well. My name does not want to change from my username. I've gone to account settings, contact info, all over the many loosely-linked settings pages Yahoo! has laying around, and nothing. There was a short period where it was actually taking my name like it should from the contact info, but not it no longer does that. 2) In the messenger integrated into Yahoo mail, my own name shows up. I've tried deleting myself in my address book, but that did not help. There should be a way to not see myself as a contact. 3) Yahoo messenger on my blackberry is also very buggy, now it won't even open. WHY Yahoo have you ignored your messenger. There are obviously big flaws you need to work out, don't make us wait too long, the competition is fierce to say the least. Thank you for any help with this guys.
