How do i stop yahoo personals alerts popping up when i sign in to yahoo messenger?

i have never joined yahoo personals but i keep getting alerts from them how do i stop them?

Answer:
For me with Safari, if I open the Safari tab at the top there's an option to block pop-up windows. Or I can go into my preferences and open the security tab, the option is there too. Not sure if that would block the alerts with Yahoo personals, I'm not a member.
