Why does messenger keep logging me out?

Why does my Messenger keep logging off by itself?

  • I am using Vista, but this just started a couple of weeks ago. Prior to that it did not do that.

    I don't think it's logging of, but the app is leaving your top page for another reason. Click Messenger on the Messenger toolbar, scroll to Preferences, click General. In the third category, "When I'm using Messenger", put a check mark in the top box; Keep Messenger on top of other applications. Click Apply, then OK, restart your computer (immediately) and you're all set. As the answer suggests, this will keep your Messenger window on top of all other applications until you click it off the page. Seems like it would be a default setting, but it's not
