How can I see my contacts?

I can't see any of my messenger contacts even if they are online. How do I fix it?

  • I have checked the older questions and answers and although some questions do seem to have the same problem the answers don't seem to solve anything in my case. So, I have a long list of contacts and I am afraid somebody used a bug to play a prank on me. I know some of my friends are online. I did check that with them, with the address book and even with the messenger as it shows them from time to time as just joining. That is I only receive the notice of their join in (they are already online!) with everybody who has not activated the stealth settings. Just checking show online/offline contacts doesn't help. Reinstalling does't help. And there is something wrong with my settings and or my account because a friend can join from the same machine, with the same YM just a different account and see everybody. I use the latest version of YM 8. All the other functionality is there.

may the problem in their messenger version.. some times if they use older version than your one it happenning
