Why am I being disconnected from my chat?

Why I was disconnected from chat when I didn't even sign in to Yahoo! Messenger from another computer?

  • I have been having the same problem for months now. When it first happened, I changed my password immediately for I thought someone was using my id to sign in YM from another computer. Said problem doesn't surface every time I sign into my yahoo account. But it is a bad one today. As I have been rejected again & again to change my chat mode, I changed my password thinking to avoid the issue, as it worked well previously. However, it didn't work this time. Same message appeared again: "you have been disconnected from chat because you have signed in to Yahoo! Messager from another computer or devise". Can someone help please?!

    Sounds like you are using Yahoo mail which has a built-in messenger and have the Yahoo messenger installed additionally. When Yahoo detects that you’ve already signed into Yahoo Mail, it will disconnect you when you try to sign into messenger or vice versa - hence the message that you are signed in to another computer. To get rid of your problem simply disable chat in your mail (!) account by clicking the smiley and following the prompts.
